Jennifer Kuhr from the Dane County Dairy Promotion Committee spoke about the importance of the dairy industry in our county and in the state as a whole. She told us all about Breakfast on the Farm … this is the fortieth year for this event. It hosts more than 70 farm breakfasts in the state, mostly in June. Wisconsin is the fourth largest cheese producer in the world … only three COUNTRIES produce more cheese than our state … the US, Germany, and France. Wisconsin competes with California in the milk and cheese marketplace. Dane County has 200 active dairy farms, 96% of them family-owned. Beyond Breakfast on the Farm, the World Dairy Expo is another large dairy event in our community, drawing people from around the globe. This year’s Breakfast on the Farm is at the Hensen Brothers Dairy at 5116 Pheasant Branch Road in Waunakee on Saturday, June 9, 2018, from 7:00 am – 11:30 am. Jennifer was a lively presenter, and the audience was just as lively. A great time. | ![]() |
