1.4 MILES WEST OF THE CORNER OF OLD SAUK ROAD AND PLEASANT VIEW
Picnic at the Pope Farm Conservancy and enjoy an enlightening program by UW Geologist/Professor Eric Carson. Eric will talk about the geological formation of the Pope Farm before and after glaciation. You can see it before your very eyes as you gaze out at Lake Mendota.

There are two parking lots, a lower lot which then requires a short walk up the hill to our meeting site, and an upper parking lot that includes two handicapped parking spots, with a shorter, less steep walk to our meeting area. Jim Olmsted is making arrangements with Mil Pope for a golf cart to move those that have a  difficulty walking or moving over inclines, so we can transport them to the meeting location. For starters, they should drive to the top parking lot.

Since this is an outdoor event our lunch will consist of sub sandwiches, chips, apples, bananas, and water. To help plan for the number of sandwiches needed, please email Rod Nilles at: rnilles38@gmail.com with the number of attendees coming.  This event usually attracts a number of guests, so Rod needs to know that also. We are asking each person that requests a sandwich to “donate” $10 to a bowl/basket at the Pope Farm meeting much like we did prior to T n T Catering providing our lunches.

Included with this are two photos – one showing the entrance off of Old Sauk Road on the north side of the road, and the second one showing the upper parking area and approximate place where we will be meeting.
