![]() | Melanie is Associate Director of Organization Engineering, which seems to cover a bit of everything from construction supervision to marketing to project management. The company’s vision statement is that they’re “committed to help win the war on cancer through early detection.” Colorectal cancer is their focus … 140,000 people will be diagnosed this year; 50,000 will die this year. It’s the second-most deadly cancer. It’s also known as the most preventable but least prevented cancer. Early detection is crucial to survival, and that’s where Exact Sciences (ES) is focused. About a third of seniors are not screen; ES wants to get 80% screened. Over a million people have been screened. The company was founded in 1995 in Massachusetts and moved to Madison in 2009. At that time they teamed up with the Mayo Clinic on products, with final approval coming in 2014. The Cologuard project gets all the attention, but Melanie highlighted that ES is a service company as well, following up with patients for compliance and with information. As it builds its world headquarters here in Madison, the company is committed to playing a major role in the community. The firm employs about 1,000 people in the area. |
