On Saturday, October 8, 2022, Leo and I had a nice loop ride around Fitchburg. They have a lot of new paved bike paths, particularly in the east and south parts of the city. Lots to see - red sumac, and maples turning color. Wildlife included deer, sandhill cranes, turkeys, and even a lesser egret (probably figured Wisconsin was a better place to be this month than Florida). Points of interest included SHINE’s Heliopolis and Phoenix Imaging facilities, and the fairly-new Barnwood meeting venue. The total loop was about 16 miles, including 7 miles on the Capital City Trail.

For this Saturday, October 15th, I’m going to be visiting family in Oregon and Leo will be cheering the Badger football team in Michigan. Paul and Peter are hiking through Italy. So we don’t have a ride planned. But if one of you like to set something up, please do so. You have the email list here. In any event, you should get out on your bikes this weekend and enjoy the fall weather and color.

We’ve been receiving pledges and donation for our McAdow Miles fundraiser for several weeks now. If you would like to consider making a donation to our Rotary Club’s Foundation, you can access the information and download a flyer on our Club’s Webpage: madisonwestrotary.org. Thanks to Paul Patenaude and Mary Cobb Dunn for making this available.
