One of the things that makes working for TLC so special is the undeniably divine flow of GRACE that we periodically receive. We have been on the brink of closing, or of unrecoverable debt, more times than I can count since I took up the mantle of MD in 2016. Each time, our prayers have been answered in miraculous ways, with generous gifts from our community of supporters whether in large donations or a deluge of small crowd-funded pledges.

At the beginning of June, we faced one of our most harrowing weeks this year. In true TLC fashion, two of our supporters gifted us in the most incredible way, alleviating the debt that continues to pile up as the DSD draws out our application process for government funding. My team and I were literally in tears of gratitude at this gift that helped us tackle our debt a little more.

On Youth Day weekend, a public holiday in South Africa commemorating the sacrifice our brave children made to rise up against the apartheid regime, our wonderful Walkerville community joined us for the Walkerville Youth Day Walk to raise funds and awareness.

We had another unexpected boost when Jungle South Africa, the iconic oatmeal brand in our country, tagged TLC in their Youth Day campaign. My sister Faith had a very busy weekend with a flurry of new tags and shares, much to our delight!
