Our Club heard from three members on Friday, February 2, 2018. Jeannine Desautels told us of her childhood in St. Boniface, Winnipeg in French-speaking Canada, working with far North native tribes for the Canadian Peace Corps, and getting her nursing degree. She married, had three kids, and traveled with her academic husband to New York and Purdue. Her commitment to humanity is well-known to anyone who’s ever spent time with her. She’s traveled around the world helping people. Jim Olmstead is a Kalamazoo native from an academic family. He moved around a lot as a kid; wound up playing football at Whitewater. After college and marriage worked for GTE in Portage and decided that he’d like being his own boss. So he moved into real estate for the last 47 years. He has three sons and 8 grandchildren. Enjoys fishing … and singing with quartets. Newish member Ginny Jenkins grew up in Chicagoland with two brothers. Her father was an Engineer at Trek, her mother an artist. Worked as an executive assistant in a law office and checked patents in a corporate environment. Spent some time in California and discovered her interest in working in Human Resources. Ginny worked five years in HR at Food Fight, and just left to handle marketing and PR for the Barrymore Theatre, as well as run many of the city’s festivals. | ||
