Alex Tyms, Scout Executive (CEO) of the Council, spoke to us the BSA’s many activities. This Council covers 16 counties, 7,000 youth, and 3,000 adult volunteers. It was founded in 1912, the first Council in Wisconsin. They’re known for their popular popcorn fundraiser, but they also serve to raise 100,000 pounds of food annually for local food pantries. They feature many special events throughout the year. They journey to Ed Bryant Scout Reservation, located on Castle Rock Lake in Juneau County for the traditional BSA outdoor activities. They also feature more contemporary activities like sailing and jet skis. Camp attendance is booming.
The BSA is also committed to growing the Cub Scouts program and to integrating more young girls into scouting.
You now have another way to purchase Raffle Tickets at our weekly Rotary meetings. The Club has printed some $20 Prepaid Punch Cards which members can purchase and use each week instead of buying raffle tickets for cash each time.
The Assistant Treasurers will sell the cards at the Registration Desk each week, either for cash or check. You can then present the card to the Ticket Sellers, who will punch the card for how much you want to spend – 1 punch for 1 Raffle Ticket, or 2 punches for 3 Raffle Tickets. You keep the card in your wallet or purse until 20 punches are done, and then you can buy another card. You will still be able to purchase the Raffle Tickets for cash as well.
Volunteers are needed to take over the responsibilities as described below. Please contact Mary Dunn if you are interested in attending an information session to learn more. We will plan and schedule individual training at that session.
