Bill met with our Club Board at 11 and then made a presentation at our following meeting. He emphasized a number of points:
Madison will host a One Rotary Summit at the Warner Park Conference Center
He'd like to double the number of Rotaract Clubs in the District ... Clubs that focus on young people in post-secondary education. He said Tech Colleges were a prime target.
What's next after Polio Plus? We can't declare total victory yet ... we won't know for sure the war is over for another three years or so -- until no signs of the disease are found in environmental field samples.
The Gates Foundation continues to be a major supporter of our Polio Plus outreach ... matching Rotary-raised funds two to one. He knows Rotary gets things done.
A broader Rotary goal is clean water, sanitation, and hygiene globally in 12 years.
He highlighted how each member should feel genuine pride in Rotary's accomplishments locally and around the world.
The District has a new member promotion. For a Club that gains four members and keeps them four months, the District will contribute $1,000 to the Club for those members to create a project.
August 11 is almost here. We have over 130 tickets sold. All are reserved seats. I will be sending out the last of the tickets that were purchased this week. If any people want to upgrade their tickets to the tailgate tickets, there are a few options for doing that. Please convey this to your members. The seat locations will remain the same.
Option 1 - they can call the Madison Mallards ticket office at (608) 246-4277 and request an upgrade. They would pay over the phone for the upgrade and pick up a voucher at the ticket office.
Option 2 - they can also easily upgrade at the tailgate line on the day of the game.
People getting the tailgate tickets must get their food before the first pitch. I have attached the flyer in case people are not clear about that.
Also, encourage your members to wear some Rotary gear. Let’s spread the word about Rotary.
Greetings,
Join me and your fellow Rotarians for a night of baseball, fun and promotion of the good things we do through Rotary. Our club committed to 10 tickets at $10 each. Pick up your tickets at the table for our meeting this Friday. I’ll be there and I hope you join me in a rousing rendition of, “Take Me Out to the Ball Game.” Matt Loch

We are looking for volunteers to do a short shift at an information table this Saturday. This is also an opportunity to get information out to the public about your club. The whole purpose for the Rotary Night at the Mallards baseball game this Saturday (besides being fun) is to expose our community to Rotary. We all want to get more members. This is your chance. You can put club brochures, info, whatever you want at the information table. We also ask that you provide one person to be at the table, if possible. Or, take a short shift selling the 50/50 raffle tickets. The proceeds go to Polio Plus.
It should be a fun night. There will be a short video about Rotary, a 50/50 raffle with he proceeds going to Polio Plus, and of course, the fellowship of watch the Mallards with your fellow Rotarians. We also have one of this coming year’s outbound students, Grant Borcherding, from Madison going to Bolivia, throwing out the first pitch.
Please get back to me if you can do even a short shift either at the information table (just inside the entrance to the park) or selling raffle tickets. Remember, this is for Rotary. See the attached schedule.

Our Club has had a number of volunteers help out for several years at the Tri 4 Schools Middleton Triathlon event. It's coming up soon. The event tees will have our name and logo on them. It's great fun, too! See if you can fit it into your schedule and come on out ...
Here are the details for volunteering for the Middleton tri. There are lots of different options:
Our Aug 31 meeting will take place at the 105-acre Pope Farm Conservancy at 7440 Old Sauk Road, about three miles west of the Beltline. Our Club has met here for several years. It offers beautiful vistas, great geological interest, and several different plant environments. We'll be guided by Mel Pope, Conservancy Chairperson, who'll give us an always-insightful overview and take us around to several of the site's features. No sunflower event this year, but there's always lots to see.
We'll have a brief Club meeting before all the sightseeing. We'll have box lunches, BUT YOU'LL NEED TO SIGN UP TO LET US KNOW YOU'RE COMING SO WE HAVE A LUNCH FOR YOU! Make a note in your calendar to do that at the next meeting ... or send an email to jack46ferreri@gmail.com.
In celebration of Membership Month RI President Barry Rassin focuses on the need to make changes in our organization, and the importance of public image, in his video message for Membership Month. "To serve our communities well, we need to represent our communities in terms of age, gender, ethnicity, and background. We need to start reaching out to people who may not know about Rotary." Watch Rassin's message to learn more about how you can help build Rotary's membership so we can be more effective People of Action.
Please let me know of any events or special situations in our fellow Rotarians' lives where a card, flowers, or a plant would be appropriate for their situation.
District 6250 is committed to creating and maintaining the safest possible environment for all participants in Rotary activities. It is the duty of all Rotarians; spouses, or partners of Rotarians; and any other volunteers to safeguard to the best of their ability the welfare of and to prevent the physical, sexual, or emotional abuse of children and youth with whom they come into contact. Entire Youth Protection Policy
