Tomorrow: Bid on & win a golf certificate!
We will be holding an auction at our regular Club meeting on Friday, July 22 for a gift certificate from Pleasant View Golf Course that entitles the winner to 18 holes of golf with cart, for a foursome. This gift certificate was presented to our Rotary Club following the recent Golf Outing held at Pleasant View Golf Course, so it was not available to be used in our Silent Auction. Please be prepared to bid as much as you can, as the money raised will go directly to the Club Foundation.

Thank you to all Club members who participated and/or contributed to the Golf Outing Fundraiser.

Sincerely,
Kevin D. Welton

James Horton, Exchange Student to Mexico

Chicago-born and Madison-bred, Memorial HS student James Horton heads off for 11 months in Mazatlan, Mexico. He told us about his sports interests (football, rugby, track) and demonstrated his verbal skills with a striking spoken word performance. He heard about the Exchange Program through activities at the Lussier Community Center, near his Wexford Ridge home. He's got an engaging personality, a strong mother Tasha (who joined us for lunch), and he'll represent us proudly.

Put your wonderful skills to use on our Board!

The MWT-M Board is seeking candidates for the 2017-18 fiscal year. President Derek Moehring has selected the Nominating Committee consisting of Derek, Tony Burns, Dean Ryerson, Ruth Domack and Matt Loch.

Please let the Nominating Committee know if you are interested in serving on the Board, or if you know of someone who would make a great Board Member.

Thanks.  -Ruth-

Can you host an international student?

Two Amazing Opportunities and Urgent Needs:

One:

Area Rotary Clubs are looking for host families for two male high school students to attend Middleton High School.  The two students are from Italy and Thailand.

Rotary exchange programs generally provide the opportunity for the student to live with three different families during the year.  So, your commitment would be for 3-4 months. The students will be arriving in mid-August.

If interested, please contact Thom Weiss at 212-7005 or InternationalFriendship.com@gmail.com

This is a great opportunity for your family to broaden it's global knowledge and impact!

Two:

We need your help. We have three students from Spain who still need local families to open their hearts & homes to their international friendship for 28 days this summer.

International Friendship is an organization that promotes meaningful, educational experiences and international friendships. We are truly passionate about providing these once-in-a-lifetime life learning experiences as we all know what a huge, positive impact they have for our international youth as well as the special, life-long friendships that come of it.

All of our Spanish youth that participate in a family immersion program have full insurance coverage, all necessary signed legal documents, bring their own spending money and are excellent students and individuals.  They hope to become a part of their host family's everyday routine, whatever it may be!

August group dates: July 29-August 26 or July 31-August 26.

If interested, please contact Krissa Hinzman at 608 347 4637 or InternationalFriendship.com@gmail.com

Please let me know of any events or special situations in our fellow Rotarians' lives where a card, flowers, or a plant would be appropriate for their situation.

Rod Nilles and Mary Cobb Dunn recognized

Each year since 1977, The Rotary Club of West Towne-Middleton has recognized members who have provided outstanding service to the Club and to Rotary. The Club has honored these individuals by presenting them with a Paul Harris Fellowship. This year at the Changing of the Guard, two members of our Club were so honored. Rod Nilles and Mary Cobb Dunn were both given Paul Harris Fellowships. This recognition is particularly meaningful, because in a Club as active as Madison West Towne-Middleton, it is significant to be honored as a leader. Congratulations to both of you, it is well deserved.

Letter from Cliff Wilford of Lussier Community Education Center

Hello John,

I am so very glad to hear that your Annual Social was a success! It is always a pleasure to be involved in making people feel happy that they attended an affair. Having parking not become a big issue was a definite plus.

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you how much we appreciate the fact that the Madison West Towne Middleton Rotary Club chose to have such an important event at the Lussier Community Education Center. We are proud to serve you and hope that we can be of service to you again in the future.

Best wishes,

Cliff

Friendship Exchange between Nepal and USA

Would you like to visit Nepal for a Rotary Friendship Exchange?

UPDATE: The Nepal trip must be from September 27 to October 20, matching the National Education conference that will be held soon after we arrive. They want our district to get involved in helping them improve the education system in their communities. And, a two week tour has been created for us, visiting the center of the country.

Our costs include airfare and rental cars, and Dr. Clemens is working on an estimate.

We can finalize details later, but everyone interested in taking part in the Friendship Exchange to Nepal should be ready to confirm very soon.

If you are interested, please contact Dr. David Clemens at the contact details below:
