Our big summer fund raiser is scheduled for Monday, June 8 at Blackhawk Country Club. The golf outing committee has established a profitable budget for the event provided that every member participates to the best of their ability.
The brochure/registration forms have been printed as an in-kind donation courtesy of American Family Insurance. This brochure/registration form is attached to this email for your marketing purposes. Please use it as a promotional piece to secure the needed golfers, sponsorships, silent auction items, and raffle prizes.
The silent auction committee is busy soliciting businesses for auction items, and we would appreciate greatly if each of you will help with the collection of donated items for the silent auction, and for the raffle prizes. This can be a big portion of the proceeds that we can generate at an event like this one.
Your involvement in this event will ensure its success. Involvement is defined as finding sponsors, filling a foursome of golfers, contributing and/or collection of items for the silent auction and raffle, volunteering on the day of the event to help set up the silent auction, registering golfers, selling of mulligans and raffle tickets, and being a fun ambassador of the MWT-M Rotary Club for our guests.
There will be extra printed brochures available to pick up at every meeting leading up to June 8th and silent auction items may be brought to the Club meetings until May 31st. You can also download electronic copies of the brochures: CLICK HERE. Here is the electronic registration form: CLICK HERE.
Questions may be directed to Chairman Kevin Welton. Kevin’s phone number is 608-695-3308 and his email is kevinw1420@tds.net

The Orphan Train Project conductor organization for Hogar de la Nina in Guatemala is St. Maria Goretti School of Madison. St. Maria Goretti announced it will spend $3,000 to fund vocational training for older students at the orphanage, to give them a chance for employment after leaving the home.
Many students in Guatemala only complete the 6th grade. Thus, the opportunity for additional training can be very significant to their futures. Programs students can select from include Commercial Food Preparation, Development of Office Solutions, Preparation of Foods and Beverages for Mass Consumption, Dressmaking and a pilot program which includes much shorter exposure to a combination of food prep and dressmaking.
The programs will be taught, for the most part, on the campus of the orphanage. The Orphan Train Intermediary for this project is LaMancha, Inc., a 501 (c) (3) organization out of Queensbury, New York. LaMancha has been active with the orphanage and the surrounding communities for several years. Each course of study is many hours long. We are grateful to the children and staff of St. Maria Goretti School and LaMancha for making all of this possible. St. Maria Goretti School has been involved with the Orphan Train Project for at least 17 years.

Enjoying calm winds and peaceful Pacific waters, Seung Jin Kim dove off his 43-foot sailboat, the Arapani, to swim with some dolphins nearby. The serenity that day near the equator was a stark contrast to the 60 mph winds and 23-foot waves he had to fight around Cape Horn, the southern tip of South America. But Kim, a veteran sailor and member of the Rotary Club of Seokmun, in Chungcheongnam, Korea, expected such challenges when he set out in mid-October on a 25,600-mile journey around the world. In addition to fulfilling a lifelong dream, Kim is using the trip to raise awareness and funds...
After the first cases of Ebola reached Liberia's capital, Monrovia, last June, local Rotary members feared that the city's limited health care system wouldn't be able to contain the highly infectious, often-deadly disease.
Those fears were realized when infections quickly multiplied, underscoring the speed with which Ebola can spread in an urban center. It was the first time the hemorrhagic fever had threatened a major city since it erupted in West Africa last March.
Now, after months of crisis-level response, and with the number of new cases declining, club members are looking to the long...
Despite his longstanding interest in polio eradication, polio was not on Joe Pratt's mind as he prepared for a mid-April 2012 climb of Mount Everest, the highest mountain on earth. But that changed in late 2011, when the resident of Nottingham, New Hampshire, USA, participated in a polio immunization project in Pakistan with fellow Rotary member Steve Puderbaugh.
Moved by the efforts of the Pakistanis to battle the crippling disease, and by the vulnerability of the young victims, Pratt reset the focus of his climbing adventure. Pakistan is one of three countries where polio has never been...
