The Madison West Towne-Middleton Rotary Club has been awarded a $5,000 District Matching Grant and will present $10,475.00 to Jefferson Middle School thanks to the efforts of Vocational Service Chairs, Matt Loch and Deb Dieter. The funds will be used to purchase 30 Chromebook laptops, a secure charging station, and headphones. The laptops will remain in the school building and be checked out by classrooms. A club logo will be silk screened onto each laptop.
Chromebooks run on the Google operating platform and use the Google cloud instead of memory on the unit. This donation will make a huge difference to Jefferson students and teachers. Forty-eight percent of Jefferson's students receive free or reduced cost lunch.
The Rotary Cub of Madison West Towne-Middleton adopted Jefferson Middle School through the Foundation for Madison’s Public Schools. The opportunities for the club to participate at Jefferson include volunteering, providing material needs, as well as financial support.
The donation will be presented at the club’s weekly meeting on February 26, 2016 during a presentation by the school and Madison School Foundation. The meeting begins with lunch at 12:12 and speakers present from 12:45-1:15.
Last Friday we had a "Five for Five" presentation - five members of the club spoke for five minutes each about their backgrounds. Last week's presenters included (as pictured from left to right) Kasey Kinney, John Gerold, Tony Burns, Lorelle Micklitz, and Dawn Frank.
Below is key information (click below to enlarge the pages) from Club President Derek Moehring that was originally presented at the February 19 meeting. Click here to access the documentif you have any difficulty accessing it below.

A new email purporting to be from Rotary Foundation Trustee Chair Ray Klinginsmith is targeting Rotary members. The email falsely claims that members can become End Polio Now ambassadors if they email club information to a Gmail address within 48 hours.
The fraudulent email has the subject line “BECOME AN END POLIO AMBASSADOR” and is sent from a fake email address.
This is a scam. Rotary staff is working to resolve the issue. Avoid being the victim of scams by deleting any email that appears suspicious.
