Looks like this will be the case for many weeks to come as we all deal with staying safe in light of COVID 19. Our speaker will be President Dawn Frank’s daughter,Caitlin, to talk about her student teaching abroad in Ecuador.

The Habitat workday, which is normally done in the springtime, has been rescheduled for August 1. Of course, this depends on having some or all of the Covid-19 restrictions lifted. We will keep you informed and be requesting volunteers for this boots-on-the-ground event. If you have any questions, please contact Todd Wiegand, twiegs2@gmail.comor Rod Nilles.
For years, led on by the powerful calves of Jerry McAdow, several riders have been bicycling together on Saturday mornings for exercise, for companionship, and for the sense of adventure. We’ve asked Club members to support our efforts by pledging dollars to the Rotary Foundation. It’s an important Club fundraiser. In the past, we’ve talked about cents per mile, but this year we’re going to simplify things by asking for pledges in the amount of $50, $100, or $250. Because several of our other fundraisers may be in some jeopardy because of the coronavirus, this is your chance to give a boost to the Foundation’s coffers. We’re gonna ride no matter what!
Contact person for this event is Jack Ferreri (jack46ferreri@gmail.com). Please take a look into your wallets and see what you can contribute to help support this event and our Club in general.
Riders generally include Jerry McAdow, Leo Edelstein, John Olson, Paul Patenaude, Peter Hoff, Mary Ruth Marks, and Jack Ferreri. We’d love to have more members join us, even occasionally. If you want to be included on our Team emails, send me an email. We hope to lay out routes and timing each week in advance of the Saturday ride date. Jerry and John are planning routes right now. You don’t have to be at a Tour de France level – some rides are simple, some more challenging. We wait for people who fall behind. We’ll provide regular updates on how we’re doing in the Bulletin.
Please let me hear from you on pledges by NEXT Friday, May 15. We’ll send invoices out for your pledge at the end of the bicycling season, probably November. Help make this fundraiser a successful boost to the Foundation in this challenging time.
District Gov, Bill Pritchard will be visiting our club on July 24th either in person or virtually if we are still there. DG visits can be very inspirational as they share the dream with us.
We traveled to Guatemala in October 2019, providing education for midwives, doctors, and nurses. As you may remember, we were unable to give the equipment to the participants due to delays in funding from Rotary International. We had planned to return in May to do provide training and equipment, but this trip is now delayed until October 10-24, 2020. This trip will complete the global grant project. We are looking for health care providers to be part of our teaching team in October. We have 2 training days in Madison on Sept 26-27 at Meriter Hospital in order to help prepare the team. If you know of anyone who may be interested in being a part of our team or have questions, please email me at safebirthguatemala@gmail.com.
