Drivers Needed
The following message is from Toni Pabon, requesting drivers for an upcoming event. Please contact Toni if you are able to volunteer to drive.

I'm organizing a car pool for our District 6250 Rotary Youth Exchange Students in July.  They will be attending The Central States Rotary Youth Exchange conference in Grand Rapids, MI.  The students are sharing a bus with District 6270 (Milwaukee Area).  We have 18 students in the car pool.

I'm looking for 2 volunteer drivers to help drive students from Madison (east side) to Brookfield to catch the bus.  I also need 2 drivers for the return on Sunday (pick up in Brookfield and drop off in Madison).  The drivers should be able to fit at least 4 students (with luggage) in their vehicle.  Gas money will be given to each driver.

Below is the schedule for the pick-ups on Thursday, July 7th and the drop off's on Sunday July 10th.

From Cliff Wilford of Lussier
Letter from Cliff Wilford of Lussier Community Education Center
Hello John,

I am so very glad to hear that your Annual Social was a success! It is always a pleasure to be involved in making people feel happy that they attended an affair. Having parking not become a big issue was a definite plus.

I would like to take this opportunity to tell you how much we appreciate the fact that the Madison West Towne Middleton Rotary Club chose to have such an important event at the Lussier Community Education Center. We are proud to serve you and hope that we can be of service to you again in the future.

Best wishes,
Cliff

Golfing Event Recap

On Monday, June 27, eighty-six golfers enjoyed 18 holes of golf at Pleasant View Golf Course in Middleton with box lunch, participation in 10 Hole Events, and a full cookout following. There was a keg of beer on the course as well. The golfers played a 4 person scramble event, with a variety of team prizes and hole prizes. We sold a "Golfer Package" with 10 Raffle tickets and 5 Mulligans for $30. Roughly 70% of the golfers purchased the golfer package. We also sold a "String Game" for $20.00 where the golfer received 3 feet of Putt Forgiveness String. 45% of the golfers bought the string. We had  30 raffle prizes valued from $35 to $150. We had 25 Silent Auction packages that ranged in value from $150 to $2,000.Best estimate for the profit to the Foundation from the Outing at this time is $14,200.

Friendship Exchange between Nepal and USA

Would you like to visit Nepal for a Rotary Friendship Exchange?

UPDATE: The Nepal trip must be from September 27 to October 20, matching the National Education conference that will be held soon after we arrive. They want our district to get involved in helping them improve the education system in their communities. And, a two week tour has been created for us, visiting the center of the country.

Our costs include airfare and rental cars, and Dr. Clemens is working on an estimate.

We can finalize details later, but everyone interested in taking part in the Friendship Exchange to Nepal should be ready to confirm very soon.

If you are interested, please contact Dr. David Clemens at the contact details below:

News from Rotary International
From the July 2016 issue of The Rotarian When Brad Rubini was reading a bedtime story to his seven-year-old daughter, Claire, she asked him why he was reading the words wrong. “I’m dyslexic, so I thought I was reading the words right,” recalls Rubini, a past president of the Rotary Club of Toledo, Ohio. After he explained his problem, she began to read to him on most nights instead. “She was a voracious reader and storyteller. She was always telling stories, even when she was a toddler,” he says. Three years later, while Claire was away at summer camp, she died unexpectedly as a result of a...

From the July 2016 issue of The Rotarian In the seven days from 7 through 13 March, I took precisely 84,250 steps. This amounted to 39.85 miles. I also climbed 288 floors and burned 22,055 calories. I’m fairly certain that you, gentle readers, could not care less about those statistics. Unless, of course, you’re one of the millions of gentle readers who have joined America’s fitness self-surveillance movement by strapping a tracking device to your wrist. In which case, you are probably pretty darned impressed by my stats. I should therefore add a few crucial caveats. Caveat No. 1: That week...

From the July 2016 issue of The Rotarian Just before John Germ dropped by, Rick Youngblood took a deep breath. “You want to match his energy,” he says, “but he makes it hard to keep up.” Youngblood is the president and CEO of Blood Assurance, a regional blood bank in Chattanooga, Tenn., that Germ helped found in 1972. After his visit with Youngblood, Germ strode between mountains of empty bottles and cans at Chattanooga’s John F. Germ Recycling Center at Orange Grove, which he designed, before he drove to a construction site and popped a cork to dedicate a Miracle League field where special...
