Maha McDiarmid of Mooseheart

Our Club has had a long relationship with Mooseheart as a trusted, high-quality residential child care facility and trainer of orphanage workers. We’ve helped send Mooseheart staff overseas, and we’ve brought orphanage workers from overseas to the Mooseheart campus forty miles west of Chicago to learn the very successful Mooseheart Model.

Maha has been with Mooseheart since 2005. She spoke specifically of a recent trip of Mooseheart staff and group of like-minded volunteers from Heart to Heart Experiences (H2H), which is based in Madison. They traveled to Guatemala to put up several buildings, to do community outreach, and to run a vacation Bible school. And they shared the Mooseheart Model with orphanage workers there Amalia did a great job telling of the commitment of both Mooseheart and H2H, as well as explaining the chicken bus and highly recommending hot dogs with guacamole.

Grant Management Seminars

Under the provisions of the Rotary Foundation’s program, club’s desiring to participate in the grant program must be certified.  Part of that certification process is attendance at a Rotary Grant Management Seminar (GMS). District 6250 will offer three Grant Management Seminars.

There will be a training session for grant management in Madison on Thursday, March 23, 2017 from 5:30 to 8:30 p.m. I have already signed up and hope to see several club members on March 23rd.

If you plan on writing a grant with a total expenditure of over $5,000, I encourage you to register.  The grant is rather long, and I want you to enhance your ability to obtain a grant by knowing the process and knowing what can be funded. You can register by going to rotary6250.org.  The location will be sent to you.

Usually a club can get one grant per Rotary year from the District.  If you have a grant request for $30,000 or more, this is submitted to the Rotary Foundation (the Foundation of Rotary International).  The District will assign you a mentor to write this grant.

Grants will be due in May.  Please do not wait until the last minute or month to start.
If you have any questions, please contact: Lynne Spielman, Club Grants Chair • spielman@chorus.net 608.850/5732.
