Dr. Eileen M Isom is a Chiropractic Specialist who’s been in practice in Monona for 43 years. Opioid issues make non-drug interventions more important. She works with a ‘lighter force’ technique. We learned how we’re looking at our smartphones all wrong …back for the neck and back. She also suggested we use our weak hand for our computer mouse. Lots of little tips to avoid strain on our bodies.

The Jefferson PTO is having a cookie exchange as a thank you for their teachers. They are asking our Rotary Club if any Rotarians would be willing to bake 2 dozen cookies for this event. If so, let Deb Dieter know what you are making (debragdieter@gmail.com)
Exchange date is Dec. 11 at the school. Please get your cookies in a non-returnable container to Deb Dieter by Dec. 10 and she will drop them off at 7:30 am on Dec. 11. Thank you for your continued support of our Adopt a School Partner-Jefferson Middle School.
The Orphan Train Project received good news a few weeks ago from Joanna Jones of TLC, the children's home we sponsor in South Africa. Joanna, a recent "Glenn Koepp Scholar," reported Elen Ambraal, who works with young learners in TLC's pre-school program, has completed the third and final phase of the online Montessori course. The scholarship for this educational opportunity was provided by the generosity of Peder & Jeanne Moren and Mary Beth Barnett, who donated to the Madison West Towne-Middleton Rotary Foundation, Inc., with their suggested use being the Orphan Train Project. Elen took full advantage of our donors' generosity, scoring all A's in every one of her courses. In her e-mail, Joanna writes: " I am so happy to be able to tell you that Elen has passed the Montessori course with flying colors! Every day I watch the huge impact she is having on the lives of our little ones and I am proud of her. Thank you for making it possible "

On Thursday, December 6, 2018, the Janesville Noon Rotary Club will be celebrating its 100th Anniversary. As Rotarians, we always have a lot to celebrate within our clubs, our district and throughout the Rotary world but an event like this only happens once every 100 years! We would be honored to have you join us for this special centennial celebration dinner and presentation. Our featured speaker is Past Rotary International General Secretary Ed Futa.
As the second oldest club in District 6250 and the only one chartered in 1918, we are excited to share our history and plans for the future with all our Rotary Friends. If you have any questions, please feel free to direct them to me. David Warren, PDG, Janesville Noon Rotary Club, dave@davesace.com
At our November foundation board of directors meeting we reviewed our funding and commitments. For fiscal year 2018-2019, we funded all approved projects and still had a total of $5,635 available. In one instance we did not receive a district matching grant for Jefferson Middle School. Further, we did not have approved projects to use all the community service funding. Due to high demand, all district matching grant funds have been committed already. In keeping with our mission, we would like to find a way to best utilize these undesignated funds.
We will accept applications for such undesignated funds no later than December 31, 2018. If anyone from the club has a project that requires funding, they should complete the Undesignated Funds Request (available on Club Runner) and submit it to the appropriate Avenue of Service Chair as follows:
Community – Kevin Welton
International – Steve Aune
Vocational – Roxanne Brazeau
All funding requests will be reviewed by the chair, who will make final recommendations to the board of directors. The board will review all recommended projects and vote to approve any such projects at the regularly scheduled board meeting January 15, 2019. Applicants will be notified of the board decision shortly thereafter. If you have any questions, contact Matt Loch at matthew.loch@tdsmetro.com.
As of Saturday, November 24, the McAdow Miles Bike team has ridden 15,044 miles. Thanks to the riders.
Jerry McAdow Tony Burns John Olson Todd Weigand Leo Edelstein Paul Patenaude Svein Morner Peter Hoff Mary Ruth Marks
There are some who will still ride through the end of the year but this is the figure we'll use to wrap up the fundraiser. If you've pledged and paid, thank you so much for your support!
• If you've pledged and have yet to pay -- now is your time! • Don't be left behind.
If you haven't pledged yet, you can still do it. Help make the McAdow Miles Bike Team fundraiser a success.
Paul will send out donation receipt letters for tax purposes after the end of the year. If you have questions about your pledge status, contact Paul at ppaten98@gmail.com.
If you have something you think should go into our weekly Bulletin, please send it to me at the email address on top of this Bulletin. Please include the phrase ‘FOR THE BULLETIN’ in your subject line.
Twas an early end to the season for the Badgers this year. They still have a bowl game in front of them, but the stats are closed for the Pigskin Payoff (PP).
Total Touchdowns – 46 (54 last year)
Total Interceptions – 10 (22 last year)
Total Points – 351 (473 last year)
Note: last year’s numbers incl Big Ten Tournament.
So … regular participants will be billed $56 (TD and picks). We had 13 Club members opt to ‘double- commit’ their dollars, so they’ll be billed $112.
The closest guess to total points was Cherie Gon @ 375, so she’ll be billed half her amount: $28.
Assuming we ain’t got us no deadbeats or ne’er-do-wells, Pigskin Payoff will net the Club $3,332.
Finally, part of the PP was garnering some non-perishable foodstuffs for one of our food pantries. For every game the Badgers won by 20, participants would bring in 1 item at the end of the season. The Badgers won two games by at least twenty, so each PP player should bring in two non-perishable items. Bring them at the Dec 14 meeting!
Thanks to all the members that put their wallets on the line to raise money for the Club!
Lynne Spielman has resigned from the Club effective 11/30. Too many things on her plate. She sends a fond farewell.
We received a thank you letter from the Madison Metropolitan School District Superintendent Jennifer Cheatham for our $2,500 gift to Jefferson Middle School for teacher supplies and field trips. Be thanked!
