Are volunteering with youth (one-on-one)? Mentoring, Youth Exchange, RYLA, Academic Decathlon, High School Business Plans, Etc...
If YES, you need to have an annual background check completed. CLICK HERE for more details about how to get your background check completed. This only applies if you are working with youth one-on-one. If you are in a group more than 2 people, you don't need a background check.

This week the board approved Mary Cobb Dunn's application for membership. Mary was a past member of our club many years ago. It is with great pleasure that we welcome her back.
Since the early days of the Rotary Club of Madison West Towne-Middleton, we've held regular bingo nights with the residents at Oakwood Village.
2015-2016 Oakwood bingo will start up on Thursday, October 15, 2015, and will continue on the third Thursday of each month through May 2016. Sign-up sheets will be circulated at the Friday meetings weeks in advance of the bingo nights, to give all ample time to consider when to sign-up for a session. Sessions begin at 6 pm and usually last until 7:30 pm.
I will send a reminder and logistical information ahead of each session. This activity also qualifies for a meeting make-up, if one is needed.
Spouses / significant others are welcome and dinner (pizza) will be provided!
This new member orientation will give new members a deeper understand of Rotary and, more importantly, is an opportunity to learn about what each new member brings to the club in terms of their background, experiences, and their expectations.

To foster a wealth of experience and dynamic discussion this seminar is designed to include participants from 5 to 7 Rotary Clubs. To create within each Club a core of leaders with a shared understanding of leadership, the District will favor applications from Clubs wishing to enroll 3 to 5 members. These preferences are -- well, preferences -- not ironclad regulations, but we expect them to be the norm. Only if spaces remain will we fill in with others.
Books for the World is a global literacy project, supervised by Rotarians, that puts used books from the United States that might otherwise be discarded into the hands of children in other countries where educational resources are in short supply.
Join your fellow Rotarians on Saturday, November 14, from 10 am – noon to pack books for Books for the World! Snacks and beverages will be provided. Please note that book packing will take place in a warehouse that is not climate controlled, so please dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable shoes for standing. See further information at this link.
There will also be lunch, refreshment and fellowship afterwards at the Lazy Oaf Lounge!
2016 Rotary International Convention • May 28 - June 1 • Seoul, South Korea
From John Gerold
The International Convention for Rotary will be held in Seoul, South Korea from May 28, 2016 through June 1, 2016. My wife and I plan to attend the convention. In addition, we plan on touring other parts of Korea either before or after the convention. A stop-over in Japan may happen as well. Five other club members have indicated an interest in attending the convention and doing some of the extended touring. If you are interested in considering this trip, please let me know. I will host a meeting sometime in October to begin discussing the trip so appropriate planning can begin.
Early discounted fees for convention registration end on December 15, 2015.
Apply to host a booth in the House of Friendship at the 2016 Rotary International Convention in Seoul, 28 May-1 June. In addition, Rotary clubs from the United States and Mexico have been investing in the...
