Are volunteering with youth (one-on-one)? Mentoring, Youth Exchange, RYLA, Academic Decathlon, High School Business Plans, Etc...
If YES, you need to have an annual background check completed. CLICK HERE for more details about how to get your background check completed. This only applies if you are working with youth one-on-one. If you are in a group more than 2 people, you don't need a background check.

Please support Jerry McAdow Miles for Rotary. You can make your pledge here: http://mcadowmiles.org/donate-today/ or send me an email with your pledge amount.
This is a voluntary fundraiser within our club. It is our 5th year doing McAdow Miles for Rotary. We raise between $5,000 - $6,000 each year to support our foundation projects.
Jerry has reached 3,000 miles on his bike this year and he has another 500 more to go to hit his mileage goal! We are currently at $3,630 in pledges so far.
Please let me know of any events or special situations in our fellow Rotarians' lives where a card, flowers, or a plant would be appropriate for their situation.
Thanks-

Our club is an Orphan Train Conductor for the TLC Orphanage in South Africa. In that capacity, we have supported the high school education of two of the girls over the last couple years. Thea Jarvis founded the operation many years ago, often taking in babies with HIV/AIDS. Her daughter Pippa is now a key administrator there.
TLC has taken in so many babies that they are now at capacity and can use our support.
On Tuesday, October 20, we had a new member orientation, during which our new members shared their background, passions, and their hopes and expectations for how they will benefit by joining our club. They received an overview of Rotary International and Rotary Foundation, District 6250, and our club.
Books for the World is a global literacy project, supervised by Rotarians, that puts used books from the United States that might otherwise be discarded into the hands of children in other countries where educational resources are in short supply.
Join your fellow Rotarians on Saturday, November 14, from 10 am – noon to pack books for Books for the World! Snacks and beverages will be provided. Please note that book packing will take place in a warehouse that is not climate controlled, so please dress appropriately for the weather and wear comfortable shoes for standing. See further information at this link.
There will also be lunch, refreshment and fellowship afterwards at the Lazy Oaf Lounge!

When Mariana Day moved in 1989 to the small beach town of Chacala, in Nayarit, Mexico, she noticed that the surrounding rural areas struggled to maintain schools. And most children weren’t able to go beyond an eighth-grade education. Day, who is a member of the Rotary Club of Bahía de Jaltemba-La Peñita, in Nayarit, had started a local scholarship program before she joined Rotary. Called Changing Lives, the program provided students with high school tuition, uniforms, school supplies, and transportation.
In addition, Rotary clubs from the United States and Mexico have been investing in the...
