The Madison West-Towne Middleton Rotary Club NCAA Sweepstakes tickets go on sale beginning February 28 for two weeks only! Our Foundation needs funding for the many wonderful projects we are supporting this year. One of our fund raising projects is the Basketball Slam. This is our third year promoting this fund raising project and we need the help of all of our members.
The tickets will be packaged 10 to a pack. Tickets are $10 each. For those members who don't feel comfortable selling tickets, please write a check for $75 to the MWT-M Foundation. For those members who would like to sell tickets but don't know anything about basketball, Mary Beth Growney wrote an informative article of “how to sell tickets” to help you out.
Our timeline is short but the generosity and spirit of this club should be able to cross the finish line with great results! This project will begin Friday, February 28 until March 14. Our team captains remain the wonderful Deb Dieter and Kevin Welton.
Please participate by selling your tickets or writing a buy-out check. Thank you.
Music has been an important part of leading an ordinary life for students at the Music School for Children With Disabilities in Honor of Paul Harris in Lublin, Poland. Founded by Rotary members, the school serves 20 students with various disabilities, including Down syndrome, autism, and visual impairments. The Rotary Club of Lublin-Centrum-Maria Curie-Sklodowska has provided funding with help from Rotary Foundation Matching Grants and the Henryk Wieniawski Musical Society, which houses the school.
After their son Mateusz was born with underdeveloped eyes, Mariusz and Joanna Kania looked for ways to help him be active. When he showed an aptitude for music, they looked for a teacher and were thrilled to find the Paul Harris music school.
“A school like this helps children like Mateusz widen their perspectives, see the world a bit differently, and meet new people,” his father says. “If it weren’t for this school, there wouldn’t be a place in Lublin for disabled children who want to develop musically.”
Rotary District 6250 Governor and Madison West Towne-Middleton Rotarian Dean Ryerson took a plunge into the frigid waters of a trout pond in Neillsville, Wisconsin on February 22nd. The plunge was the result of Rotarians in District 6250 pledging to give $100,000 this year to Rotary's Polio Plus Program. The Rotary Club of Madison West Towne-Middleton thus far has contributed $4,252 to Polio Plus this year! To see Dean's plunge, visit the District's website at: http://www.rotary6250.org/
Please pass along MWTM Rotary news notes, photos of interest.
I'll send 'em over to the Middleton Times Tribune and 6250 District Newsletter. leo.edelstein@mwfbg.net
