A Rotary Clubs of Dane County Initiative
A Field Where Every Child Gets a Chance to Play
Rotary clubs throughout Dane County are coming together with community partners to help create an accessible Miracle League baseball facility in Verona — a place where children with disabilities can play, belong, build friendships, and experience the joy of the game.
“Every Child Deserves a Chance to Play Baseball.”
The vision
More Than a Baseball Field
Baseball brings people together. But for many children with physical, cognitive, or developmental disabilities, traditional fields and programs can create barriers to participating in the game.
The Verona Miracle League project is being developed to help remove those barriers by creating an accessible baseball environment designed around the players who will use it.
The vision is a place where players can experience the excitement of stepping up to the plate, crossing home, celebrating with teammates, and hearing family and friends cheering from the stands.
Why it matters
Creating Opportunities to Play, Belong & Connect
Play
Create more opportunities for children with disabilities to experience baseball in an accessible and supportive environment.
Belong
Bring players, families, buddies, volunteers, and neighbors together through shared experiences and friendships.
Celebrate
Create a place where every hit, every run, every friendship, and every trip across home plate is worth celebrating.
Every child deserves the opportunity to experience the joy of the game.
A Dane County effort
Rotary Clubs Working Together
The Verona Miracle League is being advanced through the collaborative efforts of Rotary clubs throughout Dane County, community partners, and supporters who believe in creating more inclusive opportunities for children and families.
A new Dane County Rotary-affiliated nonprofit foundation is being established to support the project and provide long-term stewardship of the facility.
The Verona Area School District is a key project partner, and the current plan anticipates Miracle League of Dane County operating baseball programming through a separate agreement.
Final organizational roles, agreements, and operating responsibilities will be updated as they are formally approved.
Built for the future
Creating Something That Lasts
Opening the field is only the beginning. The project is being planned with long-term sustainability in mind so the facility can serve players and families for generations.
Construction
Designing and building the accessible baseball field and supporting facilities.
Operations & Maintenance
Planning for ongoing operations, upkeep, repairs, and future facility needs.
Long-Term Sustainability
Establishing appropriate operating reserves and an endowment strategy designed to help protect the project for future generations.

The fundraising campaign
Step Up to the Plate
Bringing the Verona Miracle League to life will require support from throughout Dane County and beyond.
The overall project is currently anticipated to be somewhere around $6 million. That planning extends beyond construction to include maintenance, operations, reserves, and long-term sustainability.
Individuals, families, businesses, foundations, service organizations, and community partners will all have opportunities to step up and help make the vision a reality.
